Quest Introduces Two New Communication Options for the TELSEC® 800/1500/2000 Remote Monitoring & Control Systems:



1) Four Port PPP/Asynchronous Serial Bridge with TBOS
2) Four Port PPP DSU Serial Bridge with TBOS

Palmetto, Florida - Quest Controls, Inc. is pleased to introduce the new Four Port PPP/Asynchronous Serial Bridge and Four Port DSU Serial Bridge for its TELSEC® 800/1500/2000 Family for Remote Site Monitoring and Control. The new 4 Port Bridge devices provide 2-way communications over either an analog dialup line or a DDS circuit. Besides communications for alarm and control monitoring, the two Bridges have three asynchronous serial ports to provide remote communication for other equipment in the remote site.

"The 4 Port Bridge Option enables telephony equipment (like DSLAMs and power equipment) at a remote site to forward alarms and data back to a centralized alarm center through the TELSEC®," states Stuart Brager, Executive VP of Marketing & Sales. "At the same time, an alarm center can poll remote site equipment back through the TELSEC®. The main benefit of the 4 Port Bridge, CSU/DSU connection, and TBOS conversion is to use just one remote site monitoring and control system to pass telephony equipment alarms and data as well as environmental, power, battery, and intrusion alarms back to an alarm or maintenance center. It reduces the number and cost of communications links from the remote site such as phone lines."

The 4 Port Bridge uses TCP/IP connectivity over PPP link to allow all four devices simultaneous communications over the link. The serial ports on the two Bridges can be configured for asynchronous RS232 "Pass Through" or RS422 with TBOS interface. The TBOS function provides conversion of TBOS alarms to TL1 alarm messages, and enables users to monitor and interrogate a large host of TBOS legacy equipment and then send their alarms back to a centralized alarm center using TL1 alarm messages.

The TELSEC® 800, 1500, & 2000 Controllers are compact, rack or door mountable, and perform HVAC and environmental monitoring and control, intrusion alarming and door access control, power plant, battery, and telephony equipment monitoring in each remote site. Typical alarms include high and low temperature, intrusion, air conditioning failure, commercial power fail, rectifier, fan, and fuse failures, low voltage disconnect, and more. TELSEC® transports TL1 alarm messages, ASCII text, or alarms can be sent via contact closure.
