Texas Instruments' New 12-Channel Sequencer and System Health Monitor with Power Supply Margining Reduces Board Space and Eases Design

Intuitive Fusion Digital Power(TM) Designer tool speeds configuration

DALLAS, Sept. 15 -- Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE:TXN) today introduced a sequencer and system health monitor that features power supply margining and comprehensive non-volatile error logging, allowing customers to diagnose power supply failures in their systems. The UCD90120 helps reduce board space by integrating 12 rails of sequencing; monitoring capability for up to 13 channels of voltage, current or temperature; and 10 channels of power supply margining. UCD90120 is designed for any system requiring sequencing and monitoring of multiple power rails including industrial, telecom infrastructure, servers and storage systems. For product details see: www.ti.com/ucd90120-pr.

TI's easy-to-use Fusion Digital Power Designer Graphical User Interface (GUI) allows the designer to configure the UCD90120 via a PMBus(TM)/I2C interface. The free, downloadable tool simplifies the development process and improves time-to-market by allowing the designer to configure all device parameters in minutes. To download the Fusion Digital Power Designer see: www.ti.com/fdpd-pr.

Key features and benefits of the UCD90120
-- Sequence and configure up to 12 channels, which allows flexible ramping up and down of multiple rails simultaneously
-- Detect over- and under-voltage power supply warnings and faults and respond to these faults by configuring retries, shutdown delays and slave rail shutdowns. Failures are analyzed and logged via non-volatile error logging.
-- Margin up to 10 rails via PMBus to ensure power supply performance at upper and lower limits
-- Easily configure the design with the Fusion Digital Power Designer GUI to speed time to market
