Very Small Rugged HD Mission Display Expands Industry-Leading Video Management System Offerings from Curtiss-Wright

New 7” SVDU1800 delivers full HD 1920x1080 resolution, high brightness, robust construction, and an embedded processor option in highly compact touchscreen HD mission display

ASHBURN, Va. – Curtiss-Wright Corporation (NYSE: CW) today announced that its Defense Solutions division has further expanded its industry-leading Video Management System (VMS) product family with the introduction of its most compact rugged LCD mission display yet. One of the industry’s smallest HD touchscreen mission displays, the 7” SVDU1800 provides 1920x1080 native resolution. Curtiss-Wright's VMS products offer complete surveillance solutions including mission displays, video distribution, video recording, switching and streaming technology for police, customs, coast guard, border patrol, military, search & rescue, air ambulance, and government agency aircraft and ground law enforcement applications. The compact SVDU1800 mission display features the very high brightness and exceptional contrast required to ensure legibility across the widest range of lighting conditions. It uniquely brings advanced high-performance features typically associated with larger mission displays to a very small and lightweight, rugged 7” unit. The SVDU1800 is available with an optional built-in embedded Intel® processor, saving weight and space by eliminating the need for an additional PC system. The new highly SWaP-optimized display is designed for use in demanding ground vehicle environments, as well as rotor- and fixed-wing airborne surveillance and search & rescue missions. This small mission display is ideal for use by drivers and observers on ground vehicle platforms and by pilots, co-pilots and other crewmembers on airborne platforms.

“This new high quality HD 7” mission display adds high reliability and a full feature set as well as optional embedded processing to reduce size, weight and power,” said Lynn Bamford, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Defense Solutions division. “It provides an ideal solution for customers who are looking for a small rugged touchscreen display without compromising performance.”

This rugged LCD mission display features optically bonded construction to ensure the highest video quality. Its high-performance touchscreen enables accurate control of software applications running either on its optional embedded processor or on a separate computer.

The display features built-in support for Night Vision Goggle (NVG) viewing, which is provided by dual-LED backlighting to ensure optimum readability in every mission environment.

The SVDU1800 can be used in a standalone configuration, and if desired, can also easily be integrated with other Curtiss-Wright video products.

The SVDU1800’s optional embedded processing capability enables the system integrator to select from a range of processor and memory options, and supports the Windows, Linux and VxWorks operating systems. Customer-developed software can be hosted using built-in flash storage.  The display can also run an X Windows server to support remote graphics applications via its Ethernet connection.

Ideal for Land, Air and Sea

The new 7” display joins Curtiss-Wright’s earlier announced 10.4” AVDU2600, 12.1" AVDU3000, 14.1” AVDU3600, 17.3” AVDU4300 and 21.5” AVDU5500 rugged touchscreen products. These displays are fully qualified, reducing the risk to system integrators of failure during commissioning or operation. They are designed to meet the unique demands of defense, aerospace and law enforcement applications, such as surveillance, patrol, and search & rescue. They are suitable for use on tactical ground vehicles, rotor-wing and fixed-wing aircraft, and on naval platforms.
