Original Press Release:

New Edition Aristo MIG 5000IR Robotic Welding Power Source Improves Welding Performance, Offers Online Integration

Florence, SC – The new edition Aristo® Mig 5000iR robotic welding power source from ESAB Welding & Cutting Products promotes better weld quality and higher productivity. ESAB improved arc starts to minimize or eliminate spatter and promote good fusion, enhanced arc stability to reduce spatter while welding and added an improved crater-fill function at weld stop for defect-free automated welds from start to finish.

The Aristo Mig 5000iR features an improved robot interface with more storage and increased communication speed. A built-in robotic interface module (W82) and built-in web server allow remote access by a wide range of external devices, including robotic controllers. The Aristo power source integrates with ESAB's industry-leading WeldCloud™ online data management platform via Wi-Fi, mobile cellular or hard-wired Ethernet communication.

Speed Up to 1,200 IPM

In addition to conventional MIG, pulse MIG, SuperPulse™ and cored wire processes, the 500-amp Aristo Mig 5000iR supports Swift Arc Transfer (SAT™), a high productivity process that uses ESAB's OK AristoRod™ 12.50 non-copper coated ER70S-6 wire.

Swift Arc Transfer enables wire feed speeds of up to 1,200 ipm (or deposition rates up to 20.2 lbs./hr.), provides flat welds with good penetration, no undercut and is suitable for lap and fillet welds on thin and thick plate. SAT makes it easy for users to increase production rates without the cost or complexity of tandem arc welding.  Most importantly, the SAT process is not vulnerable to the lack of fusion defects that are common to competitive high-speed welding processes. The combination of the improved arc stability of the Aristo Mig 5000iR and the excellent conductivity of the copperless AristoRod wire, make this high productivity, deep penetration process possible.

Productivity Leaps

ESAB designed the Aristo Mig 5000iR to work within ESAB's industry-leading WeldCloud online process management platform. Much more than a data recording system, WeldCloud enables a wealth of analytics. Using any device with a web browser, users access applications and dashboards with functionality tailored for the job needs of different personnel: operations managers, quality managers, engineers, welders, maintenance staff, training supervisors and others. With customized displays that eliminate extraneous data, WeldCloud helps users make smarter and faster decisions.

By automating activities that surround the welding processes, WeldCloud makes possible quantum leaps in productivity, quality and machine efficiency. Here are just a few:

Bi-directional communication to pull in procedures and schedules, verify operator qualifications and confirm machine setup.

Automated documentation of every step in the process chain (essential for structural steel construction, ship, offshore, pressure vessel, military, automotive, crane and other industries).

Job status and real-time response to production situations – such as alerts when consumable levels run low, generation of a predictive maintenance schedule or pushing out a re-stocking text to suppliers.

Remote connection to ESAB experts for process optimization, updates and troubleshooting.

Web-based reporting provides up-to-the-second status information, highlighting production and quality concerns to increase overall quality and production performance.

Integrate with ERP systems like Oracle®, SAP®, IBM and SharePoint, plus analytics and reporting tools such as ClickView, Qlik®, SAS® and Tableau®.
