Crown Equipment's Powerful Rider Pallet Truck Offers Performance Boost to Operators

NEW BREMEN, Ohio – Crown Equipment Corporation, one of the world’s largest material handling companies, enhances its PE 4500 Series with a new power steering option that helps boost operator comfort and performance. The PE 4500 rider pallet truck is used in a wide range of applications; most commonly with operators loading and unloading trailers on docks or moving from aisle-to-aisle to pick orders. Crown sells the PE 4500 Series globally.

Operators using the Crown PE 4500 Series with power steering exert less energy and experience less strain on their shoulders, arms and back while maneuvering the truck. Features such as speed-sensitive steering and automatic speed reduction in turns deliver consistent steer effort, greater control and enhanced truck stability to help operators remain confident and productive throughout the shift. The power steering option also allows operators to enjoy the traction and durability benefits of a rubber drive tire with no increase in steer effort.

Henningsen Cold Storage, one of the largest public refrigerated warehousing companies in the U.S., utilizes the Crown PE 4500 Series with power steering in its Salem and Portland, Oregon facilities. Henningsen’s operators use the rider pallet forklifts for low-level order picking applications, as well as loading and unloading trailers on the dock and moving product to and from a cold storage environment.

“The Crown PE 4500 Series with power steering helps us get the job done more efficiently, and we really appreciate the quality and durability of this pallet truck,” said Pete Lepschat, engineering services manager with Henningsen Cold Storage. “Crown’s power steering provides a more consistent feel and better control throughout the entire range of travel speeds compared to other brands we have used. This helps operators feel more confident and saves them from using their whole body to manipulate and turn the pallet truck. It also allows us to more quickly move product, which is important when order picking in a cold storage environment.”

Crown designed the Crown PE 4500 Series to perform in the most demanding applications and harshest conditions. As a result, for 20-plus years, customers have seen long-term value and a lower cost of ownership that comes from consistent uptime, exceptional performance and reduced maintenance. The PE 4500 end rider pallet truck features the industry’s largest drive unit and up to 45 percent more steel than competitive models in areas of the truck that face constant stress and the highest risks of costly damage. Crown backs up the durability of the product with comprehensive warranties and a five-year guarantee on the power unit and fork weldment.
