Boart Longyear Launches RC6 Reverse Circulation Drill

SALT LAKE CITY -- Boart Longyear (www.boartlongyear.com, ASX: BLY), the world's leading integrated drilling products and services provider, has released the RC6 drill, a lightweight and compact reverse circulation (RC) rig that also offers versatile coring, down-the-hole-hammer (DTH) and rotary drilling capabilities. Engineered for fast set-up on site, superior mobility and powerful performance, the RC6 drill delivers reliability and productivity on even the toughest terrain.

Boart Longyear, known for innovation and safety, continuously strives to put the most productive products on the market. The RC6 continues the Boart Longyear safety initiative and offers several key safety features including intuitive control panels, low noise operation, a safety cage and emergency trip wires.

"Safety has always been a top priority for Boart Longyear, and the RC6 is no exception with it's state-of-the-art safety features," said Justin Warren, Boart Longyear global product manager for capital equipment. "The RC6 has a lot to offer to drillers that require a versatile rig and contractors will be able to increase productivity and save a lot of time with this powerful drill."

With robust steel crawlers and an optional radio remote control for driving, the RC6 can be driven on slopes up to 30 degrees while the operator maintains a safe distance from the rig when unloading or driving on uneven terrain. The rig also has an optional trailer-mounted cyclone and splitter that can be towed behind the drill rig for flexibility and ease of mobility on site.

Weighing only 8,000 kilograms (17,000 pounds), the rig delivers an impressive 5.5 tons of pullback, and features a rotary head with up to 6,540 Nm of torque, and a Deutz air-cooled diesel engine with 72kilowatts (96 horsepower) and has a 4-meter feed-stroke.

"This drill is perfect for contractors looking for a versatile RC drill with multipurpose capabilities. It is particularly suited for use on drilling sites where space is limited and it would not be practical to deploy a large RC drill," said Warren.
