Greif Packaging Introduces BPA-Free Reusable Water Bottles

DELAWARE, Ohio, - Greif Packaging, a wholly owned subsidiary of Greif, Inc. (NYSE:GEF)(NYSE:GEF.B), has developed a new bisphenol-A (BPA) -free, FDA compliant copolyester water bottle for the home/office delivery market. The new bottle has the same dimensions, design elements and features of Greif's existing polycarbonate bottles.

The bottles come in standard 3- and 5-gallon round and handled sizes. Independent laboratory testing using the Comprehensive Bottled Water or "50 State Compliance" Tests has demonstrated that all parameters are below the maximum contaminant level.

"Every water bottle we make is checked for fit and finish," said Rick Volker, Greif Sales & Marketing Manager-Water Bottles. "Each undergoes automated checks for weight, top-load strength and leakproofness. As a final check, we take bottles at random during each shift, fill them full with water, and drop test them three times from four feet."

Volker continued, "Our customers told us they wanted a BPA -free alternative to the polycarbonate water bottle that looked good and would meet the industry's standards. We started a development program evaluating many resins until we hit upon copolyester. Copolyester bottles match the transparent and glossy look of polycarbonate bottles and drop tests confirm that they meet the requirements set within the industry."
