3M Helps Workers Adapt to Change with New Respiratory Range

Diversified technology company 3M has introduced a new range of powered and supplied air respiratory protective systems which offer a comprehensive, modular approach to worker protection.

3M's Versaflo Respiratory Protective Systems are designed to protect workers in a wide range of industries, supplying clean, safe air to the workers' breathing zone and so allowing them to work comfortably for long periods.

Boasting streamlined, lightweight, stylish, intuitive design for optimum comfort and ease of use, the new systems offer protection with the flexibility for changing environments, needs and comfort preferences.

The modular nature of the range allows it to be quickly and easily adapted for changing work environments. For example, a lightweight hood can be switched to a robust headtop incorporating a helmet if the worker moves to a task requiring head protection. And if a hazard is introduced which cannot be filtered, a powered air system can even be changed over to a supplied air system by replacing the turbo unit with a regulator.

Among the new products being introduced is the 3M Versaflo TR-300 Powered Air Respirator range, which combines optimal comfort and performance with a high level of protection. The highly efficient filter on these slim, lightweight, balanced products captures hazardous dust, mist and fume, while its intelligent lithium battery quickly charges, has no memory effect and incorporates a useful charge indicator. It also has an audible and visual electronic alarm that activates in case of low battery or low air flow.

Workers requiring supplied air can choose from a range of belt units, while all of the headtops feature adjustable air flow, allowing the user to select whether they wish the air to flow over their face, head or visor. Headtops are available for a complete range of applications from welding through to pharmaceutical manufacture.

Caroline Smith of 3M's Occupational Health & Environmental Safety group commented: "3M respiratory protection products have always led the field in protection and performance and the new Versaflo Respiratory Protective Systems offer the same benefits alongside unrivalled comfort, styling and ease of use.

"The versatility of the range means many applications can be safely catered for, to meet legal requirements and user preferences and buyers can have confidence that they are purchasing high-quality products from a proven and trusted manufacturer."

3M is also able to provide advice on system selection and ongoing care and maintenance to ensure all systems deliver optimum performance and service life. For further information call 0870 80 800 60 in the UK or 1 800 320 500 (Ireland).
