SignalFire's Remote Sensing System Extends Capability to Interface with Thermocouples, Turbine Meters, Load Cells, Pots



Hudson, MA, – SignalFire Telemetry has expanded the interface capabilities within the open architecture of its Remote Sensing System to support a wider array of sensors in the remote management of assets in challenging outdoor environments such as oil fields, water systems and mining. 



At the heart of every Signal Fire Remote Sensing System (SFRSS) are remote transceiver “Sentinel” nodes that interface with sensors, extract data and send a powerful, long-range transmission of data in the unlicensed ISM bands that sustains signal strength through terrain, structures, or weather.



Signal Fire introduces three new Sentinel nodes to its existing range of analog, digital, Modbus and HART modules to provide users with greater options in their monitoring and control applications:



• Sentinel Thermocouple – Interfaces with K and J type thermocouples to report on thermocouple temperature, ambient temperature, thermocouple error status and diagnostic information. The Sentinel will take a temperature reading and send data (via the SignalFire wireless mesh network) to a Gateway where data is available via a Modbus RTU or TCP interface.



• Sentinel Turbine – Provides a sensitive pulse pick up with a direct connection to a turbine flow meter. Node can monitor frequencies in the range of 1 Hz to 2 kHz with a min sensitivity of 30 mV. The Sentinel totalizes flow volume as well as the current flow per hour and sends the data (via the SignalFire wireless mesh network) to a Gateway where the data is available via a Modbus RTU or TCP interface.  With up to a ½ mile range, the Sentinel Turbine costs less than 60 feet of installed wire.



• Sentinel Load Cell and Potentiometer –works with standard mV/V (Wheatstone Bridge) load cells as well as potentiometers, making it ideal for load measurements on moving devices.



All Sentinel nodes are rated to Class 1 Division 1 standards, intrinsically safe, rugged oil field proven and can be power either from internal batteries or Signal Fire’s C1D1 Solar System.  The addition of the three wireless Sentinel nodes to the SFRSS enables users to build a full wireless network using the best sensors for an application.
