Simrad OP50 Remote Controller Simplifies Chartplotter Navigation

Intuitive Control Available For Multiple NSS Or NSO evo2 Displays From A Single Low-Profile Device

Egersund, Norway – The newly released Simrad OP50 Remote Controller provides unparalleled confidence with intuitive command of on-screen navigation on multiple NSS evo2 or NSO evo2 multifunction displays (MFDs).

The Simrad OP50 Remote Controller centralizes navigation functions in a multi-display environment. Featuring a multi-axis control rotary dial with up/down/left/right, rotate clockwise/counter-clockwise and press-to-enter capabilities, as well as a keypad and a dedicated button that cycles quickly through the available displays, the OP50 Remote Controller is specifically designed to operate the latest NSS and NSO evo2 MFDs efficiently and reliably in all conditions, regardless of the sea state. Purpose-built for intuitive operation, the OP50’s integrated LED indicator lights clearly show the selected display number, and included cursor functions allow for easy on-screen navigation. Notification of vital information is also relayed by critical alarms using the built-in high-decibel speaker.

“Captains of vessels of all sizes depend on so many sources of information to make reliable decisions,” said Leif Ottosson, CEO, Navico. “From radar and sonar imaging to engine information and even entertainment functions, complete MFD control is now simplified and more convenient for our customers with the compact and discreet OP50 Remote Controller.”

Available in two orientations, the OP50 controller is suited to a wide variety of applications. The portrait orientation fits perfectly in the arm of a helm chair or beside a Simrad MO-series monitor, while the landscape orientation is ideal for location beneath flush-mounted displays. Both versions support stylish dash-mounting with a slim 8mm profile and an optional bracket allows for a completely flush-mount presentation. In order to simplify wiring and installation, the controller is networked with a single NMEA 2000® connection for both power and control.

The Simrad OP50 Remote Controller, scheduled for January 2016 availability, will be offered by authorized dealers worldwide.
