Real Time Operating System supports Blackfin ADSP-BF70x DSPs.

Press Release Summary:

ThreadX® RTOS handles control and computational tasks in diverse markets and applications. It supports Analog Devices ADSP-BF70x Blackfin DSPs, which provide designers with such connectivity options as USB, SDIO, CAN, ePPI, SPORT, and QuadSPI while also extending life of battery-driven devices by enabling low-power applications through bus. To maximize developer efficiency, RTOS is configured for ADI's CrossCore® Embedded Studio (CCES) IDE and is available in full source code.

Original Press Release:

Express Logic ThreadX® RTOS Supports Analog Devices Blackfin® ADSP-BF70x Processor Family

San Diego, CA — Express Logic, Inc., the worldwide leader in royalty-free real-time operating systems (RTOSes), today announced that its popular ThreadX® RTOS now supports Analog Devices’ ADSP-BF70x Blackfin Digital Signal Processor (DSP) product family. Deployed in over 2 billion electronic products in consumer, medical, and industrial applications worldwide, Express Logic’s small-footprint, high-performance ThreadX RTOS is well matched to the new Analog Devices (ADI) ADSP-BF70x processor family as well as to ADI’s other 32-bit microprocessors. To maximize developer efficiency, ThreadX is configured for ADI’s CrossCore® Embedded Studio (CCES) IDE and is available in full source code.

As a high-performance DSP series, the ADSP-BF70x Blackfin processors deliver a class-leading 800 MMACS of processing power at less than 100 mW. This cost-effective, eight-member Blackfin processor family includes up to 1 MB of internal SRAM, eliminating the need for external memory in many applications, while also offering an optional DDR memory interface. The ADSP-BF70x family offers designers unparalleled flexibility and functionality through an array of advanced connectivity options, such as USB, SDIO, CAN, ePPI, SPORT, and QuadSPI, while extending the life of battery-driven devices by enabling low-power applications through the bus.

“We are thrilled to combine our ThreadX RTOS with the high-performance Blackfin ADSP-BF70x family,” commented William E. Lamie, president of Express Logic, Inc. “ThreadX can handle both the control and computational tasks commonly found in the wide array of markets targeted by these processors. From automotive, industrial, and control applications to instrumentation, video/image analysis, and biometrics, we offer highly complementary technologies.”

“Express Logic’s ThreadX RTOS gives our Blackfin ADSP-BF70x processor family a unique level of flexibility,” said  Andrew  Lanfear, product marketing manager of Analog Devices. “This enables our customers to better harness the power of our Blackfin architecture and to easily apply it to their application. We are pleased to welcome Express Logic’s ThreadX RTOS in support of our family of Blackfin ADSP-BF70x processors.”
