Original Press Release:

Littelfuse Introduces the World's Smallest Protection Thyristor: The Teccor® Q2L Series QFN (Quad Flatpak No-lead) SIDACtor® Device

New RoHS compliant device delivers industry leading telecom protection in a Chip Scale Package size.

DES PLAINES, Illinois, October 05, 2005 - Littelfuse, Inc. (Nasdaq/NMS: LFUS) introduces their new Teccor Q2L series SIDACtor device - the world's smallest protection thyristor, designed for dense board telecom applications and CPE (Customer Premises Equipment). With size constraints continually challenging our industry, the new Q2L series is the solution that meets market demand.

Littelfuse has incorporated their patented SIDACtor technology into a new low profile Chip Scale Package for maximum footprint and height reduction. The Q2L series offers a 54% reduction in PCB real estate requirements and a 51% reduction in height profile (1.0 mm height on PCB). Compared to DO-214AA solutions, no other circuit protection device offers this functionality in such a small package size. The reduction in size makes the Q2L series ideal for high board density applications.

This new Q2L SIDACtor provides exceptional bidirectional transient voltage protection and offers a wide range of Ipp ratings including 75A for the 5x310/10x700µs event (ITU/YDT waveform), 80A for 10x1000µs event (GR 1089 waveform) and 100A for 10X560µs event (TIA-968). While the package size of the Q2L series has been significantly reduced from the DO-214AA package of the previous generation of SIDACtor devices, circuit designers can still expect the same industry leading performance that they have come to rely on from all SIDACtor devices.

When designing their telecommunications circuit, designers need to look no further. The Q2L series delivers optimal transient voltage protection in the smallest package available. For more information visit www.littelfuse.com.
