New Yellow Fingers Eliminate Marking, Resist Breakage

Syracuse, IN - Parker Hannifin's Engineered Seals Division has introduced its new series of yellow poultry picking fingers that dramatically reduce physical marking and provide increased resistance to abrasion and premature breakage.

The yellow fingers, which meet all FDA White List requirements for 21CFR177.2600 ("Rubber Articles Intended For Repeated Use"), are currently available in five different hardness grades. They offer poultry processing professionals an added level of performance over the traditional black, natural rubber compounds commonly used in picking applications.

While fingers made with black rubber compounds provide acceptable service, they tend to retain some post-cure surface tack. This tack can cause streaks and specks of abraded rubber on poultry products. Parker's new yellow compounds eliminate this problem through the use of a unique material formulation and a more consistent curing process.

The superior physical properties of Parker's yellow compounds also enable them to resist "cut growth" that often occurs as fingers are flexed in the feather removal process. As a result, the new yellow compounds can offer a service life increase of up to 300% over traditional black rubber compounds.
