Original Press Release:

Portable Heavy-Duty Workstation Designed to Roll Through Most Single Commercial Doors

Ideally suited for maintenance departments or operations requiring temporary associates on an  as-needed basis for doing repairs or part-time assembly jobs.

Creform Corporation, Greer SC, introduced a new style of workstation that is easily mobilized to provide a work-anywhere surface for maintenance or assembly operations.  For example, maintenance department associates can provide in-plant, at-the-machine repairs that require a work surface to perform simple assembly tasks.  Assembly operations can keep these in reserve to quickly provide temporary, additional work surfaces at permanent cells.

The workstation’s base is constructed with Creform large diameter 42mm pipe and joints providing a 650 pound load capacity without bracing.  The unit measures 34″W x 30″D x 82″H, which is low and narrow enough to fit through most commercial doors giving it accessibility anywhere in a plant.  The work surface has a durable 1/2″ plastic top with a pull out drawer below for supplies or a variety of tools.  A flow level below the drawer featuring Creform Placon® plastic wheel conveyors is designed to present parts, boxes or totes from the back of the unit to the operator.  Mobility is provided by 4″ stem casters.

The upper structure’s main support is 42mm pipe integrated with standard 28mm pipe and 42/28mm joints.  This allows combining the strength of 42mm pipe with the versatility of 28mm pipe for mounting Creform accessories including the 2-lamp T8 light fixture, hand tool balancer and monitor.  The Creform monitor mount allows secure varying of the position of the screen in the most comfortable angle.   Power is supplied by an 8-plug 15A power strip.  Clip-on bins attach to Creform flat pipe in V-configurations over the work surface for ergonomic presentation of small parts, fasteners and components.  Other various pins, pegs and pockets hold tools and supplies.

The ease of modification of Creform designed and built structures allow for customizing this workstation’s design to meet just about any need.  For example, the flow lanes could be built using slide pipe or skatewheel conveyors.  Additional clip-on bins can easily be added along with more tool holders.  A wide variety of pipe colors are available. Sheet holders can replace the monitor.  Whatever is needed it can probably be built with Creform.

The Creform System is used to create an array of material handling and efficiency enhancing devices, including push, special purpose and trailer carts, flow racks, roller conveyors, workstations, and AGV/AGCs. The Creform System is a proven component in continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing programs, and the company partners with customers in developing and implementing these programs.
