Accurate In-Line Moisture Analysis Now Available for Plastics Processors
BALTIMORE, MD - NOVATEC, Inc. introduced the *MoistureMaster(TM) polymer moisture sensor system at NPE 2012. This proven technology automatically displays resin moisture content in real time, thus eliminating the need for time consuming manual moisture analysis procedures. Knowing actual polymer moisture content is particularly important for molders and extruders of medical devices and other parts that must maintain critical physical and visual properties. Doug Arndt, Product Manager for MoistureMaster says, "Heating a polymer at a prescribed temperature with air at a particular dew point for a given period of time does not guarantee the desired resin moisture content so processors are guessing that the resin is dry enough. MoistureMaster takes the guesswork out of resin drying."
The MoistureMaster SA stand-alone moisture sensor can be added to any drying hopper regardless of brand and the color touch screen control can monitor up to four or eight sensors, constantly displaying resin moisture content in percent or ppm (parts per million). Molders enter their upper and lower moisture content parameters for each resin (profiles are available for over two hundred materials) and Ethernet connectivity allows the moisture readings and trending screens to be monitored from any laptop or PC. Shutoff and diverter valves are available to ensure that material falling outside the desired parameters does not enter the process machine.
NOVATEC also offers MoistureMaster PLUS NovaWheel(TM) dryers that include a MoistureMaster sensor on the drying hopper. If the resin moisture content starts to trend toward the pre-set upper or lower limits, dryer parameters are automatically adjusted to ensure that resin moisture content remains within your pre-set parameters.
