Transition Networks Addresses Demand for Power in Security Networks with Built-in Device Management System (DMS) for PoE+ Switches

New 8, 16 & 24 Port Switches Deliver Advanced Tools for Smart Management of IP-based Powered Devices

Transition Networks, Inc., a leading provider of innovative, high-value, data network integration solutions, today announced an expansion of its portfolio of PoE+ enterprise switches with the new smart managed PoE+ switches. This portfolio includes an innovative device management system (DMS) ‒a technology that offers advanced tools necessary for management of IP-based powered devices.

The DMS capability built into the switches is new from Transition Networks and provides time-saving features enabling security integrators or network administrators to establish and document a baseline deployment, and automatically discover and remotely configure attached IP-addressable powered devices (PDs). The DMS provides simplified management of devices through various views, such as a graphical topology view, floor view or using Google Maps™ mapping service, allowing users to easily locate and keep track of these devices. It also features auto power reset (APR) to monitor and automatically restart edge devices, saving truck rolls to remote locations for simple rebooting of the attached PDs.

Other DMS features simplify troubleshooting cable and IP connection issues, allow monitoring and analyzing traffic by day, week, port or device, and conduct health checks with thresholds and auto-alarm on error conditions.

The switch portfolio provides Layer 2 PoE+ switching and is available with 8, 16 or 24 10/100/1000Base-T PoE+ ports and two 100/1000 SFP slots for fiber-optic backbone connections. It can power IP cameras, wireless access points and VoIP phones and is ideal for use in commercial security network applications.

“In the past year we’ve introduced a number of solutions designed to reduce the costs associated with implementing or upgrading security networks for customers, and our PoE+ switches with DMS are an important addition,” said Scott Otis, president of Transition Networks. “The unique set of value-added features and capabilities in this switch family provide security integrators and network administrators with lower overall cost, less downtime, and easier management and maintenance of the entire PoE+ network.”

Compliant with Trade Agreements Act (TAA), the switch portfolio comes with free 24/7 technical support. The new SMxxTAT2SA smart managed PoE+ switches will be generally available in the second quarter of 2017. For more information about Transition Networks, visit www.transition.com.
