New Pipe Inspection Robot from STRAHL LLC

A new inspection system has been recently added to the family of pipe crawlers ( http://www.fiberscope.net/pipe-inspection-robot.html ). STRAHL LLC has started the sales of the German made Pipe Inspection Robot GECKO 9050 ( http://www.fiberscope.net/pipe-inspection-robot-gecko-9040.html ). This unit is currently the most affordable pipe robot on the market with all the potential to become a sales hit given its impressive characteristics. The new pipe crawlers comes in two modifications. The standard one comes with a 78mm (3”) auto-leveling, pan and tilt camera head and a 120 meter (394 ft.) Kevlar reinforced cable. This version is also equipped with a high resolution Sony CCD chip for a crystal clear and bright image. The self-leveling function allows the waterproof camera head to remain right side up while navigating the pipe. The pan and tilt ability comprises limitless 360 degree rotation, 240 degree tilt, automatic 180 degree tilt, and automatic home positioning. All these functions are controlled through buttons on the base unit.

The pipe robot on tracks can reach the speed of up to 33 meters per minute. Both the forward and reverse speed of the crawler is controllable. The inspection is visualized on a large color 8.4’’ LCD display. Super bright LEDs provide enough illumination even in the darkest areas. Some of the optional tools than can be ordered with the unit include a camera raiser for aligning the camera better in larger pipes. The raiser is also equipped with extra LEDs. The extra wheel sets is another option, which consists of 63mm (2.5”) diameter wheels for 5” pipes, 100mm (4”) diameter wheels for 8” pipes, or 120mm (5”) diameter wheels for 12” pipes. A sonde, or locator used to locate the camera head within the pipe is also offered as one of the options.
