Timing Boards Support the Most Recent Version of Sun Solaris



Spectracom's products have been accepted into the Solaris Ready Logo program

ROCHESTER, NEW YORK - Spectracom Corporation announces the availability of a Solaris 10 software driver package for the company's PCI-bus timing boards. The new driver allows for the easy integration of precision timing applications into the latest Solaris operating system environment. The driver allows for set-up and control of local clock synchronization to references such as GPS or IRIG timecode. It also the ability to generate time-based interrupts for external events (time tagging), alarms and periodic signals.

Spectracom also announces it has been accepted into the Solaris Ready program for the popular PCI versions of its TPRO and TSAT timing boards. According to Sun, "The Solaris Ready logo informs customers that these products have met the testing requirements of the Solaris Ready Program for system compatibility, interoperability, ease-of-installation, functionality, and network interoperability as defined and controlled by Sun."

Features of the new driver package includes:

o Support for multi-threaded applications running on multiprocessor machines.

o Supports SPARC and X86.

o 64 & 32 bit OS setups.

o Backward compatibility with the current driver API command set.

o Includes example source code for the API commands.

o Supports up to 4-boards in a single computing platform.

The new driver has been tested to the 5/08 distribution of Solaris 10. In addition, recently Spectracom has successfully tested its Linux PCI board driver to the latest release 2.6.25.
