Almco's Modular Parts Cleaning System Ideal For Customized Industrial Requirements

ALBERT LEA, Minnesota (January 7, 2002) -- A compact parts washer/dryer system with a choice of standard or customized components that meet specific cleaning requirements is now in the broad line of aqueous cleaning equipment from ALMCO, Inc.

Called the PWD Series, the modular system incorporates a single conveyor belt that links washing and drying components with options including rinsing, rust-inhibiting, moisture blow-off and liquid filtration equipment. To accommodate individual production and cleanliness needs, ALMCO offers varying belt widths, belt lengths, temperature ranges, nozzle positions and other tailored features.

The standard combination of washer and dryer -- Model PWD-12 -- is 12.5 feet long and 45 inches wide. Cleaning solution tank capacity is 180 gallons, and V-jet spray nozzles on the top, bottom and sides of the wash chamber maximize cleaning performance.

Electronically controlled air temperature inside the insulated dryer can be up to 270° F. with drying achieved through use of slotted air nozzles from above and below the conveyor belt.

ALMCO recommends a temperature range of 150° to 170° F. using maximum air blow-off and velocity through nozzle positioning, which lowers energy costs.

The standard flat-wire belt is 12 inches wide, has 1-inch-square openings and is driven at a variable speed of 2 feet to 6 feet per minute. At the end of the cleaning process, parts can fall into a container for removal from the area or can be directed onto another conveyor for transport to the next manufacturing step.

Cleaning solution cost-savings and environmental considerations make optional recycling and reclamation equipment desirable, according to ALMCO. The entire flow from the washer is filtered through the three-cyclone unit with a 60 gpm capacity before returning to the main wash tank. Highest possible cleaning efficiency is realized by the manufacturer's exclusive, patented skimming feature, which continuously removes floating matter and particles smaller than 5 microns from the liquid. ALMCO is a leading manufacturer of metal finishing and deburring machines, as well as parts cleaning and liquid filtration equipment, which are sold through an international network of independent distributors, sales representatives and ALMCO region managers.
