Packaging Testing: Oxygen Permeability Using Labthink i-Oxtra 7700 Oxygen Transmission Rate Testing System
Packaging is a critical part of food production, as it protects the product from damage until it is used or sold. Good packaging avoids decay or spoilage. The ability to measure the oxygen permeability is therefore, essential for quality control and product development processes.
Two stand test methods: ASTM D3985 and ASTM D1434, are used to quantify the packaging process. One (ASTM D3985) is based on equal pressure method and the other one (ASTM D1434) is based on differential pressure method.
