Outdoor Microwave Carrier Switch supports 4G and LTE networks.

Press Release Summary:

AERO(TM) microwave switch provides 400 Mbps capacity in licensed bands from 6-38 GHz, and supports Ethernet connectivity to e-Node B, IP base stations. Integrating both radio and carrier switching capabilities, compact, top-of-the-mast unit enables interconnection of remote cell sites and consumes as little as 40 W, so it can be powered using small-size solar panel. Zero-downtime Adaptive Coding and Modulation are incorporated to allow for smaller antennas and optimal links.

3Roam Presents AERO(TM), the High-Power Full Outdoor Microwave Carrier Switch, for Evolving Operators Networks Towards 4G and LTE

MOUGINS, France and BARCELONA, Spain

3Roam, the innovator in advanced networking solutions for high-capacity wireless backhaul, today announces AERO, its full-outdoor high-capacity microwave switch, for Service Providers looking for the rapid and easy interconnection of remote cell sites.

AERO provides 400 Mbps capacity in a single outdoor equipment in the licensed bands from 6 to 38 GHz. It supports Ethernet connectivity to e-Node B, IP base stations, and enables lightweight capacity upgrade for existing TDM sites through 3Roam's Hybrid-WLS gateway. Integrating both radio and carrier switching capabilities into a compact top-of-the-mast unit, AERO removes the need for shelters, air-conditioning and additional switch / router traditionally needed at cell-site for point-to-point microwave interconnection, reducing drastically CAPEX and OPEX without performance compromises.

AERO further improves cell-site savings and network uptime thanks to the Industry's highest radio system gain, combined with a zero-downtime Adaptive Coding and Modulation allowing for smaller antennas and superior link robustness.

AERO incorporates 3Roam's latest advanced Ethernet switch to meet Operators' strong requirements for traffic protection and Quality of Service management for the transport of voice, data and video and combines with 3Roam's WLS split-mount product line for Gigabit-class traffic aggregation to the network. "AERO is the additional solution into 3Roam's existing portfolio for Operators to meet today's requirements for high capacity and low-OPEX solutions," declares Jean-Paul Deschamps, CEO of 3Roam, "In today's limited growth and cost-constrained environment, Operators can't afford to be kept away by traditional vendors from the savings and refinements allowed by advanced IP solutions."

With a power consumption as low as 40 W, AERO is easily powered with a small-size solar panel, in regions with no access to the grid and is therefore ideally suited for deployment in African and Middle-East countries.

3Roam also provides 3View(TM), its Network Management System, providing support for AERO and WLS systems monitoring and management.

AERO will debut on 3Roam's booth at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, February 14-17, 2011, Hall 2, French Pavilion 2F49.
