Netstender 2060 enables cost effective broadband capacity expansion for new service growth including 3G, IPTV, FTTX and WiMax

Las Vegas - TelecomNext, US, Mar 20, 2006 - BTI Photonic Systems Inc., a global supplier of WDM optical networking solutions for the build-out of new broadband services at the Metro Edge, announced today the availability of its next generation Netstender 2060 platform which is expandable to 24 service slots with in-service expansion to meet requirements for economical bandwidth capacity growth for the Metro Edge and Regional markets.

Economical Build-out of New Broadband Services at the Metro Edge
Continuing its leadership role at the Metro Edge, BTI is delivering the first truly scaleable product for the edge. The Netstender 2060 now supports an expandable architecture allowing carriers to grow from 6 to 24 service slots seamlessly and cost-effectively as broadband service penetration rates increase. The next generation 2060, featuring an expandable architecture, is fully compatible with the field population of Netstender 2060s through an in-service system processor upgrade.

Network operators, explains Laking, require an architecture that enables new service delivery on a thin WDM model with an option to scale network capacity where and when it's required based on user adoption. Fully Upgradeable Architecture
Currently deployed installations of BTI's Netstender 2060 are fully upgradeable (in-service) to the new expandable architecture with full investment protection. This provides customers with an attractive growth path as their networks continue to grow, without the up front cost of competing solutions. The 2060 scales with the addition of a next generation Multi-Port System Control Processor which includes integrated OSC functionality for lower management costs. The new platform will also deliver enhanced ease-of-use by enabling auto provisioning and auto-in-service of modules via BTI's innovative photonic layer 'no-key-touch'.

New Optical Service Modules
As part of its next generation Netstender WDM platform, BTI is introducing a wide range of new optical service modules including: high gain EDFA amplifiers, Fiber Bragg Grating Dispersion Compensation modules, wavelength conversion service packs with optical protection switching, and DWDM Multiplexers with Automated Power Management.

The new platform is available immediately to all BTI customers and partners worldwide.
