New Operator Interface Offers the Power of Graphics at the Price of Text

(Everett, WA) - New from Maple Systems, the Operator Interface Specialists, is the Blue Series of graphic operator interface terminals.

With a 3" graphics display and five user-programmable function keys that can be screen dependent - all for under $200 -- the Blue Series offers a high-quality, low-cost way to provide the communications power of graphics with the versatility of user-defined function keys.

Sam Schuy, Engineering Manager for Maple Systems, says that the Blue Series was developed to fill a niche in Maple's product line that their customers have been requesting.

"Our customers like the communications power that graphics provide, but many of them also need a display that fits into small spaces and is very inexpensive," Schuy says.

That's where the Blue Series graphics operator interface terminal comes in. It is one of the smallest graphic OITs available on the market today, measuring in at just 5.8" x 3.8" with a depth of 1.6". This makes it ideal for small systems such as packaging, bagging and filling machines where space is at a premium.

"By combining the technologies of our other product lines, we have created a unique operator interface that provides users with easily-interpreted graphics and allows them simple function key data entry at a great price," Schuy continues. "The graphics features allow our customers to create a more intuitive operator interface at a price that is lower than most text displays."

The Blue Series is definitely full-featured. Some of its features include RS-232 and RS-485 ports, built-in clock, five user function keys that can be screen-dependent, numeric data entry, and the ability to display and import bitmaps such as lamps, panelmeters and bargraphs. The Blue Series' quality is also apparent in its ruggedness. It has been built to withstand harsh industrial environments, as evidenced by its NEMA4 rating, CE classification and UL listing.

The Blue Series connects to many popular controllers including Allen-Bradley, Modicon and GE Fanuc. Other protocols are available, and protocol development is ongoing, offering Maple Systems' customers the freedom to choose the controller that best meets their needs.

For more than 20 years, Maple Systems has been a leader in designing, manufacturing and supporting high-quality, full-featured and affordable operator interface terminals for the industrial automation market.
