DigitalPersona Announces FingerJet OEM Fingerprint Recognition Software for Biometric Device Manufacturers and Solution Providers

Fast, Compact Fingerprint Extraction, Identification and Verification Software Runs on Mobile Devices, PCs and Back-end Servers

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., and PARIS, -- DigitalPersona, Inc., a global provider of authentication and endpoint protection solutions, today announced the availability of its FingerJet(TM) OEM fingerprint recognition software for biometric device manufacturers and solution providers. FingerJet OEM offers MINEX-certified fingerprint feature extraction and template generation along with fast one-to-many identification and one-to-one verification. The software can be embedded into chips, fingerprint sensors and mobile devices as well as run on PCs and large servers. With FingerJet OEM, hardware and software vendors can add advanced biometrics to their products quickly and easily. Commercial licenses for FingerJet OEM are available for source code as well as binaries.

As demand for biometrically-enabled computers, mobile ID terminals, phones and tablets grows, device manufacturers and application developers are looking for high performance, cost-effective ways to add fingerprint recognition to their products. International standards for fingerprint data formats enable applications to exchange biometric data across a wide range of devices, databases and applications - but only if the underlying fingerprint data is consistently and accurately obtained and compared. FingerJet OEM enables solution providers, from mobile device vendors to integrators for national ID programs, to build uniform, high-quality biometrics into applications on a variety of platforms.

FingerJet OEM is both fast and compact, requiring approximately 192KB of code space and 128KB of data space for fingerprint extraction, identification and verification. Based on DigitalPersona® technology that has been used commercially on millions of devices, FingerJet OEM can run on 32-bit and 64-CPUs as well as 32-bit microcontrollers and does not require any special hardware such as DSPs or floating point. FingerJet OEM is written in self-contained C++ and is designed to run on Linux, Android, Windows, Windows CE, real-time operating systems and even embedded systems without an OS. The software is device-independent; its fingerprint feature extractor can be used with simple 8 bits-per-pixel grayscale image data from any brand of fingerprint sensor or fingerprint image database. The feature extractor in FingerJet OEM meets and exceeds the Personal Identity Verification (PIV) requirements for fingerprint template interoperability and is compliant with NIST's MINEX Ongoing Test. In addition, the FingerJet OEM fingerprint template matcher offers fast one-to-many identification as well as one-to-one verification, making powerful applications easy to develop.

"Hardware and software developers have historically had to trade off size, speed, reliability and support for standards when choosing fingerprint recognition software to embed into their products," said Jim Fulton, vice president of DigitalPersona. "FingerJet OEM frees device manufacturers and system integrators from having to make compromises so that they can deliver consistent, high-quality biometric solutions across a wide variety of platforms, small and large."
