Portwell's 2U Network Security Appliance Offers Multiple Expansion Slots and Wider Configurations
Press release date: December 5, 2012
With a potential 30 percent increase in performance when compared with previous generation platforms, American Portwell’s new CAR-5030 2U rackmount network security appliance is the ideal solution for Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Firewall, VPN, Anti-Spam, Anti-Virus and Unified Threat Management (UTM), plus network management applications such as QoS, Server Load Balancer, RAS Gateways, Wireless Controllers, Medical DICOM and PACS, and Industrial Automation Control via Ethernet TCP/IP.
Maximized Expansion with High Performance
According to Oliver Chen, American Portwell Technology’s product marketing manager, the new CAR-5030 provides customers with many benefits, not the least of which is multiple expansion slots with high performance.
“The new 2U chassis design optimizes valuable space usage and increases the ability for various configurations,” Chen states. “It is designed to take full advantage of the new Xeon processors and C604 chipset and by supporting forty PCIe lanes per CPU, CAR-5030 maximizes the expansion capabilities inherent in the appliance’s six standard PCIe x8 slots, five Portwell Ethernet modules and the 50 GbE ports that can be created through PCIe Generation 3.0. Our customers also benefit from increased virtualization support,” Chen adds, “Plus, the new CAR-5030 2U rackmount network security appliance generates the high computing power associated with the latest Intel Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge processor technology.”
Long Product Lifecycle Support
“Portwell always designs and develops its products with one eye on the bottom line and the other eye on making things as future-proof as possible,” announces Frank Shen, American Portwell’s vice president of product marketing. “And as always,” Shen continues, “our customers not only benefit from the most up-to-date technology and features, but they also gain peace of mind from the long life cycle support (7+ years) inherent with every Portwell product.”
