B&G Launches Zeus Multifunction Displays

Marine-Electronics Leader Announces New Navigation System with Dedicated Sailing Features

Nashua, N.H. - B&G, the world leader in marine instruments, autopilot systems and tactical software solutions, announced today its powerful new multifunction navigation display, Zeus. Providing dedicated functions designed specifically for sailors, the feature-packed Zeus multifunction display offers full integration with GPS, Broadband Radar(TM), Automatic Identification System (AIS), weather, entertainment and digital switching. Featuring seamless compatibility with B&G's renowned H3000 instruments, the new Zeus system has an ultra-bright, sunlight-viewable display, unparalleled chart redraw speed, a smart menu-driven user interface and extensive performance features that make it the ultimate navigation solution for sailing cruisers and club racers.
Delivering sailing-specific navigation functionality, the B&G Zeus system provides GRIB weather-file display and animation, along with true wind speed and direction, and barometric pressure. Users can also scroll through forecasts to plan navigation consistent with conditions. Zeus' tactical chart overlay depicts sailing laylines and indicates best and worst layline positions, allowing sailors to make better-informed navigation decisions. The system also displays a powerful WindPlot histogram, ideal for analyzing breezes, and a TimePlot histogram that provides a time-based log display including depth, barometric pressure and boat speed for trend tracking.

"With Zeus, we have developed a complete navigation system that is designed to give sailors the best performance, an intuitive user interface and industry-leading expansion capabilities in an attractive multifunction display," said Louis Chemi, chief operating officer, Navico Americas. "Once again, B&G has defied the boundaries of marine electronics by delivering unparalleled functionality, flexibility and efficiency to both recreational and professional sailors. Zeus provides sailors best-in-class navigation technology backed by B&G's renowned reliability and customer service."

The B&G Zeus system gives boaters complete access to a range of integrated functions. The multifunction display is compatible with some of the most powerful innovations in marine technology -- including the new B&G BR24 Broadband Radar(TM) with award-winning navigation technology, HD Digital Radar, Broadband Sounder(TM) module; StructureScan(TM) sonar imaging; SIRIUS® satellite weather module; the new ZG50 5Hz GPS antenna and the SonicHub® multi-zone multimedia entertainment system. In addition to seamlessly integrating with B&G's H3000 instruments, the displays are compatible with vessel/target tracking AIS including the Simrad NAIS Black Box and AI50. The Zeus display is also compatible with BEP Marine's CZone(TM) digital-switching system, allowing users to monitor and control nearly every onboard system including lights, bilge pumps, tank levels and even fuel and power settings. Equipped with an SD card slot for a range of marine mapping options, Zeus has built-in Nautic Insight(TM) HD coastal cartography, and is fully compatible with Navionics® Platinum+ featuring TurboView(TM) for enhanced 2D and 3D viewing.

The B&G Zeus series is available in two models, the Z12 12.1-inch diagonal XGA TFT display and the Z8 8-inch SVGA TFT display. Both models have a high-resolution LCD screen and feature ultra-bright LED backlighting, a simple rotary controller, programmable dedicated chart, sonar and radar keys, and an alphanumeric keypad to provide easy access to system functions and professional level performance.

Constructed with a rugged, die-cast aluminum housing and a direct-bonded display, the Zeus system is easy to install with a stylish, low-profile front bezel that provides a sleek, flush-mounted appearance. The Z12 measures 10.47 x 14.0 x 4.38-inches (H x W x D) and the Z8 measures 8.35 x 11.2 x 4.38-inches (H x W x D). The systems offer two composite video inputs and one DVI video output, and a USB port on the front and the back of the unit. The Z12 and Z8 draw low current and are compatible with both 12 and 24V DC power systems. B&G Zeus systems are waterproof to the IPx7 (submersible) standard, and are protected by a three-year limited parts and labor warranty.

The B&G Zeus multifunction display system will be available in November 2010. The Z12 and Z8 models have suggested retail prices of US $4,995 and $3,695, respectively, and can be purchased from authorized B&G dealers and distributors throughout the United States and Canada.
