Columbia Introduces Automotive Style Utility Vehicle

Reedsburg, WI - January 27, 2004 - Columbia is pleased to announce their all new Summit(TM) Utility Vehicle. Designed to be a part of their exciting Summit product line, the Summit Utility Vehicle features an automotive style roof, safety glass windshield, head, tail and stop lights, tubular steel front bumper, rear steel bumper, adjustable automotive-style fabric covered individual seats with folding armrests, automotive suspension, digital battery discharge indicator, horn and black painted steel diamond plate rear deck.

Scott Breckley, Columbia's Vice President of Sales and Marketing noted, "Our SUV is a compliment to our expanding Neighborhood Electric Vehicle line. This model is directed towards military installations, colleges, universities and other large government and non-government facilities and campuses where both on-road and off-road use is required. A good majority of these customers are looking for a utility area, or box, on the back of the vehicle for transporting cargo or equipment, in addition to a driver and passenger." This need prompted Columbia to release this latest version of its popular Summit vehicle.

Perfect for multi-purpose use in on-road and non-road applications, the SUV is available as a Neighborhood Electric Vehicle (NEV) model. The SUV-NEV package makes the Summit street legal on roads with posted speed limits up to 35 mph in many states. The NEV package includes driver and passenger side-view mirrors, high-low speed switch, turn signals, emergency flashers, license plate light, license plate mount, retractable seat belts (2 sets), reflectors, and back-up lamps.*

After release of the Summit Utility Vehicle, Jim Henderson, West Coast Regional Sales Manager for Columbia reported, "The SUV is being well received everywhere. We have already taken numerous orders for spring delivery. Customers love the ride, the steering, and the overall feel of the vehicle. The optional, upgraded bucket seats are a huge success." Jim added, "There has been significant interest from users who perform meter reading, as well as parking and security patrols."
