NEMA 4X Microdrives Are Found In the Worst Places

UXBRIDGE, MA December 6, 2001... Some of the nastiest ennvironmients are the happy home of AC Technology's NEMA 4X stainless steel enclosed MC Series microdrives.
Exposure to water, oil, most chemicals, dust and other airborne contaminants, and washdowns won't affect performance of AC Tech's MC 4X drives which use external heatsinks for natural convection cooling without external fans. In addition, the drives deliver both constant torque and variable torque for fan and pump applications in the chemical, food, and beverage processing, and powder and bulk solid industries.

MC 4X models range in power from fractional to 20HP and available voltages are 240, 480, and 590 VAC. Dimensions range from 7.50"H x 4.70"W x 3.33"D to 15.75"H x 10.21"W x 8.35"D.

With simple menu-driven programming, setup is easy - as is operation - via a front panel-mounted keypad fitted with eight large, finger-size buttons. Parameters are input by scrolling and read out in plain English in a 16 character, one line backlit
display.

For security, the program mode can be password-protected. A
comprehensive Run mode display gives complete drive status (Run, Stop, Accel, Decel) as well as speed, load, voltage, and control information. Speed display can be calibrated to the engineering units of the application.

Diagnostics are extensive. The drives can log up to eight previous shutdowns in a non-volatile memory and will report fault cause as well as time of shutdown.

Fault diagnosis and programminig instructions read out in English and eliminate the frustration and time involved in learning very complex systems that use codes and symbols.

Standard features include 4 pre-set speeds, two skip speeds with adjustable bandwidth, PID Setpoint Control for temperature, pressure, and flow, and either Modbus or Metasys serial communication protocol. A two year warranty is standard.

Like other models in the MC line, the NEMA 4 and 4X models incorporate the latest in drives technology. The control board has surface-mount components and a highly integrated Intel 196 family motor control processor that features built-in memory, internal wave shape generation and advanced I/O capability. The result is continuous trip-free operation without nuisance shutdowns.

Intelligent Power Modules (IPNM's) in six pack configuration provide high efficiency and reliability while reducing size and enabling current limits of 180% for 20 seconds and 150% for one minute. All models can operate at carrier frequencies up to 14 kHz with full output up to 8 kHz.

Hardware options include a dynamic brake card and resistor, a Form C auxiliary relay card, and a remote keypad mounting kit.
