To maximize ruggedness, connectors have overmolding, which creates bond between jacket of cable and connector, reducing stress by injecting plastic using premold and final mold.

Overmolded Solution For Micro-D Connectors

Micro- D connectors are commonly used in the cable assembly industry but why not improve them? With pinout options from 9 to 130 contacts these connectors are outstanding for military and demanding applications where weight, long term performance and miniaturization are key elements. Micro-D’s are available in numerous variations such as insulated and uninsulated wire, pcb mount, solder cup, flex terminations and more. These high density connector’s offer great mating performance and durability. Why spoil this rugged connector with a back shell?

To maximize potential ruggedness of a Micro-D ISC has created an overmolded solution. Overmolding creates a bond between the jacket of the cable and connector adding improved stress relief by injecting plastic using a premold and final mold. Injection molding also provides value added benefits including but not limited to customizable appearance, choice of overmold compound, IP rated assemblies, added strain relief and built in features such as jackscrews.
