MEMS Shock Accelerometers measure and survive high-G events.

Press Release Summary:

Series 3501, stud-mount, and 3503/3991 screw-mount piezoresistive shock accelerometers can measure long duration transient motion, as well as respond/survive extremely fast rise times. Available in 20,000 and 60,000 G measurement ranges, rugged, miniature sensors feature light damping to reduce resonance amplification and mechanical stops for over-range protection. Available in packaged and OEM surface-mount configurations, units are suited for explosive environments and impact blast loading.

PCB Piezotronics Releases Improved High-G MEMS Piezoresistive Shock Accelerometers

Sensors Features Light Damping and High Over-Shock Survivability

Depew, NY - PCB Piezotronics, Inc., a global leader in the design and manufacture of microphones, vibration, force, torque, load, strain, and pressure sensors, as well as the pioneer of ICP® technology is pleased to announce their improved High-G MEMS, Piezoresistive Shock Accelerometers. Series 3501, 3503 and 3991 piezoresistive shock accelerometers represent state of the art industry technology for miniature, high-amplitude, shock sensors, capable of measuring long duration transient motion, as well as responding to and surviving extremely fast rise times typical of a high-G shock event. The units feature light damping to reduce resonance amplification and mechanical stops for over-range protection. These rugged sensors offer superior survivability to a high over-range, minimum zero-shift after a shock and higher bridge resistance with associated lower power consumption than legacy sensors on the market.

The sensors are available in 20,000g and 60,000g measurement ranges and are designed to be drop-in replacements for legacy sensors. Series 3501, stud mount, and Series 3991/3503, industry standard screw mount, are designed to support electronics drop testing, pile drivers, down-hole mineral exploration, shot counting for firearms, sport equipment testing and pyro-shock events. All series are capable of surviving in explosive environments, impact blast loading or other demanding requirements.

All sensing elements are micro-machined in-house at a PCB® ISO-9001 certified MEMS facility in the US, where our vertically integrated manufacturing allows complete control of product quality. Each PCB® sensor is tested to its full over-shock limit prior to calibration and is supplied with a standard 10 VDC calibration or optional user defined values. Packaged and OEM surface mount configurations are offered to fulfill a variety of installation requirements. Recommended signal conditioners include Model 482C27 four-channel and Model 483C28 eight-channel ICP® and DC bridge amplifiers.
