New Open Sided 3-D Measuring Gage Offers CMM-Like Performance
(Aurora, IL) Mitutoyo introduces QM-Measure, a unique 3-D measuring gage that features an "open-sided" structure that makes workpiece loading/unloading easy. This cantilever design allows the operator to reach, fixture and move parts without obstruction. A 12" x 20" x 12" measuring envelope accommodates a wide variety of workpiece configurations and weights. The holding capacity of the machine is 66 lbs.
The QM-Measure's body design was developed through Finite Element Analysis to determine where to strengthen the unit's structure to minimize machine deformation during probing. This optimized design provides a very good accuracy of (3.0 + 41/1000)µm and an extremely smooth axis movement. It operates in the normal temperature of 20°C (68°F). The QM-Measure comes standard with QM-Data, a machine-mounted data processing unit with simple to use icons. It is also available with a PC, monitor and printer running Mitutoyo's GEOMeasureTm 3000 software. This easy to use software is WindowsTm based and includes all the basic measuring functions required for 3-D measurement.
