Original Press Release:

ADMET MTESTQuattro Combines Micro EP Mechanical Test Results with Microscope Image Data

NORWOOD, Mass. - Oct. 29, 2008 - ADMET Inc., a provider of integrated materials testing systems, today announced that the Micro EP line of palm-sized universal testing machines (UTMs) has been enhanced with the addition of its MTESTQuattro(TM) materials testing system. The new configuration enables greater materials testing capabilities and the ability to combine mechanical test results with microscope images in a single file.

ADMET Micro EP test stages, which exert forces as small as a few grams or as much as 5kN, are ideal for determining the mechanical properties of miniature specimens in tension, compression or flexure. They can be used as standalone testers or installed in optical or atomic microscopes to compare the macroscopic stress-strain states with microscopic changes in the material.

The Microsoft Windows XP/Vista PC-based MTESTQuattro materials testing application both controls the test routine and records and archives test results. It features sampling rates (up to 1kHz) and precise control of ramp and hold, sawtooth, sine, and square wave profiles, as well as multi-input profiles that can be easily programmed. Force and extensometer strain accuracy exceeds American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) E-4 and E-83 standards, respectively.

"Materials science advances in aviation, biomedical and other fields demand new analytical techniques," said Richard Gedney, ADMET founder and president. "By examining microscopic structure changes under macroscopic or bulk stress-strain states, our customers are able to gain better insights into material performance. The Micro EP and MTESTQuattro system brings this data to a single file for analysis, reporting and recordkeeping."

The ADMET Micro EP test stage and MTESTQuattro are available immediately from ADMET and through ADMET representatives. The system is supported by a full catalog of clamps and fixtures for testing biomaterials, wire, textiles, elastomers, plastics, films, foils and other materials.
