B&G Debuts Powerfull Wave Technology Processor

Marine Electronic Leader Unveils Next-Generation WTP3 Processor with Enhanced Data Accuracy and Performance

Nashua, N.H. - B&G, the world leader in marine instruments, autopilot systems and tactical software solutions, announced today its new advanced Wave Technology Processor system, the WTP3. Offering greater data accuracy and system architecture enhancements, the WTP3 is faster, lighter and adds significant functionality over its WTP and WTP2 predecessors. Paired with B&G's renowned range of displays, sensors and software, the WTP3 is the most flexible and powerful instrument system on the market.

Designed to meet the demands of high-end inshore and offshore race competitors and superyachts, the WTP3's new architecture features a redesigned, compact Central Processing Unit (CPU) that collects, calculates, logs and displays data at an unparalleled pace. The device operates at speeds of up to 1Mbit per second on three independent channels, greatly expands data collection capabilities, as well as supports the newest B&G technological advancements for racing and yachting systems.

Ensuring greater accuracy and stability of core sailing data with rapid updates, the system is equipped with pioneering Wave Technology Motion Correction that measures the pitch, roll and yaw of the boat. The B&G WTP3 can be configured to accept a large variety of data including multiple GPS, heading and speed inputs, and information from sensors that measure variables such as the rudder angle, forestay load or mast rake, to name a few. Providing an unmatched combination of performance, precision and reliability, the WTP3 technical developments include increased analog channel sampling rates, integrated data logging for post-analysis of race or testing data, a USB port for data download, and automated software and configuration updates. The B&G WTP3 also features mechanical design improvements and system architecture changes that provide a reduction in the installed system weight, increased expansion options and enhanced protection from water, shock and vibration.

"B&G WTP3-based yachting solutions are the most powerful, accurate and flexible systems available for high-end race boats and superyachts," said Louis Chemi, chief operating officer, Navico Americas. "Our new B&G processor will provide the world's best yacht racing teams with the accuracy and performance they demand from their instrument system, while also serving as an ideal platform for building an integrated instrument system onboard any superyacht."

The B&G WTP3 has high-sensor sampling rates of up to 100 times per second. Employing custom Linux software, the processor allows data acquisition from three independent CAN I/O modules with Fastnet, Ethernet, Terminal and USB stick file access. Designed to ensure that there is minimum latency within the data acquisition process, users configure the way information is displayed with intelligent data switching and create custom variables based on existing data. B&G WTP3 processor and I/O modules are dust and waterproof to the IP66 and IP67 standards, respectively, and are protected by a three-year limited parts and labor warranty.

Available in November 2010, the B&G WTP3 can be purchased from authorized B&G dealers and distributors throughout the United States and Canada.
