Low Power, Low Cost Display Module Suits Handheld Applications

Santa Fe Springs, November 1, 2001: The DV5520 is ideal for numerous battery-powered applications where a harsh environment is likely to be encountered. Mobile data collection devices and handheld instrumentation are among the many applications that can benefit from the DV5520's thin profile and low power consumption features.

Measuring only 53mm(w) x 65mm(h) and just 2.8mm in thickness, this monochrome 132 x 64 pixel graphics display module has an effective display area of 50mm(w) x 30mm(h). Offering designers a large viewing area in a small overall package size, the DV5520 is capable of surviving extreme temperatures from -20ºC to +70°C, and high humidity (90%RH). It has an MTBF in excess of 50,000 hours, and is frugal with power usage at a current consumption of only 96µA for typical "normal" mode at 3V.

The display is a high contrast FSTN type in reflective mode capable of giving excellent readability from its 132 x 64 dot (8-line 22-character) display, and includes an LCD driver/controller chip mounted directly to the LCD glass panel. Many display control functions are included: Display ON/OFF, Normal/Reverse Display, Set LCD Bias contrast controls, and Power Save. The DV5520's high-speed 8-bit microprocessor interface allows direct connection to both the 8080 and 6800 microprocessors. Alternatively, a serial interface may be used. No external operation clock is required for RAM read/write operations. The DV5520 can be operated with minimum current consumption (0.01 µA for typical "sleep" mode, 4pA for typical "standby" mode, and 96µA for typical "normal" mode), and can operate from a 2.4 - 3.5V DC input voltage range. The connection is via a 30-way 0.5mm pitch flex cable.

Not only is Densitron able to offer a high quality product that meets your needs, but also offers the DV5520 at a very competitive rate. Attractively priced at under $10.00 each for 5,000 pieces, the DV5520 offers diverse functionality at a competitive price. Delivery is from stock to 8 weeks ARO depending on availability.
