Low Noise Amplifier is suited for ultrasound applications.

Press Release Summary:

RoHS-compliant MD3880 is comprised of 4-channel, low-noise amplifier (LNA) and variable gain amplifier (VGA) with 4 discrete gain settings. LNA output is fed directly into VGA, eliminating need for external coupling capacitor. Along with fully differential inputs and outputs, product features low current (0.35 pA/√Hz) and voltage (0.74 nV/√Hz) noises as well as linear-in-dB continuous variable gain control.

New Four Channel Low Noise Amplifier from Supertex Minimizes Current and Voltage Noise

MD3880 is Ideal Low Noise Amplifier Solution for Ultrasound Applications

SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 15, 2007- Supertex (NasdaqGS: SUPX), a recognized leader in high voltage analog and mixed signal integrated circuits (ICs), today introduced the MD3880, a four channel, low-noise amplifier (LNA) with a variable gain amplifier (VGA). The IC features very low current (0.35pA/sqrtHz) and voltage (0.74nV/sqrtHz) noises and linear-in-dB continuous variable gain control.

The MD3880 has fully differential inputs and outputs that deliver a high common-mode noise rejection ratio. The IC also has a programmable gain amplifier (PGA) with four discrete gain settings. The output of the LNA is fed directly into the VGA, eliminating the need for an external coupling capacitor.

"With its low power consumption, fast recovery time, and accurate gain control, the MD3880 is an ideal building block in the implementation of receive-channel circuitry for medical ultrasound applications," states Ahmed Masood, Vice President of Marketing for Supertex. "This precision analog IC reflects Supertex's commitment to develop leading-edge products for its high growth, core-focused markets."

The MD3880 is available in an 84-lead BCC+ package (MD3880B2-G). The part is Green and RoHS compliant. Samples are available from stock. Lead-time for production quantities is 4-6 weeks ARO. Pricing is US$12.00 each for the MD3880B2-G in 1K quantities.
