Eaton Launches New Lighting Controls to Help Commercial Customers Simplify Code Compliance, Enhance Energy Savings

Power management company Eaton today announced three new lighting control solutions designed to help commercial and institutional customers reduce energy consumption, simplify code compliance and increase comfort. The new Universal Slide Dimmer, Universal Phase Selectable Slide Dimmer and Dimmer Sensor are designed to help reduce energy costs and increase lamp life.

“Lighting can account for close to 40 percent of the total energy consumed daily by commercial, or institutional buildings. When trying to improve the energy efficiency of a project, incorporating lighting controls is an ideal place to start,” said Advait Katarki, Associate Product Manager at Eaton. “Our newest solutions are designed to take the guess work out of energy savings while creating ambiance and simplifying compliance with the latest energy codes.”

These new Eaton lighting control solutions feature a modern, industrial design that is consistent across Eaton’s entire line of commercial lighting solutions, and are available in five standard colors for integration with existing color schemes.

Commercial energy codes such as American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) 90.1 and California Title 24 require lighting designers to implement designs that enable the facility to save on energy consumption. Eaton’s new 0-10 volt (V) dimmer sensors allow customers to satisfy these requirements in a convenient and cost effective way by combining the functionality of a sensor, a switch pack and a dimmer in one device. The solution is designed to work at dual voltage ratings of 120V alternating current (ac) and 277Vac and can be used in a single pole or 3-way configuration, with a neutral connection. Additional features include 180-degree field of view, daylight sensing, adjustable high and low end trimming, and selectable occupancy and vacancy mode.

The new Universal Phase Selectable Slide Dimmer is designed to provide a reliable, high wattage solution for most phase cut dimming control installations. With the ability of selecting between forward and reverse phase cut dimming, the dimmers offer a universal load dimming solution designed to dim incandescent, halogens, dimmable LEDs and CFLs, ELVs, at wattages up to 1000W. These dimmers are designed for commercial and residential installations and are dual rated for 120Vac & 277Vac.
