Original Press Release:

Industry's Largest Area Laser Beam Profiling System Features 10.6 Mega-Pixel Camera, Measures Beam Widths to 35 mm

North Logan, UT - Ophir Photonics Group, the global leader in precision laser measurement equipment and a Newport Corporation brand, today announced the L11059 USB Large Format Beam Profiling Camera.

The L11059 camera is designed for measuring large laser beams that require fast frame rates, low noise, and high responsivity. The camera's high resolution, 4008 x 2672 pixel format allows profiling of beams up to 24 x 36 mm without the need for reduction optics. The camera also includes 50 mm ND filters, providing maximum power density measurements to 15 mW/cm2 without additional attenuation. Frame rates of up to 3.1 frames per second (fps) are supported at full resolution, and up to 17 Hz in 4x4 binning mode.

The L11059 is a compact, lightweight camera that can accurately measure CW (continuous wave) laser beams over an extended spectral range, from 190 nm to 1100 nm. The camera also has a wide dynamic range of 59 dB. A global shutter allows simultaneous integration of the entire pixel array. Its short exposure time is ideal for capturing objects in high speed motion. An integrated USB 2.0 digital interface allows measurement data to be easily transferred to laptops and desktop computers.

The L11059 works with BeamGage®, the industry's most advanced laser beam analysis software. BeamGage includes all the algorithms and calculations needed to make the accurate, ISO approved laser beam measurements. It provides 2D and 3D viewing, advanced image processing features, NIST traceable power measurements, and multilingual support for English, Japanese, Chinese, and German.

"Designed for large laser applications, like semiconductor fabrication, BeamGage and the L11059 large format camera can capture and accurately analyze beams widths to 35 mm," stated Gary Wagner, General Manager, Ophir Photonics (U.S.). "Prior to this, large beams had to be reduced with optics so the beam would not overfill the camera imaging sensor. But there is always a concern that any optic in the path of the beam may cause spatial changes that are not characteristic of the natural beam. The large imaging array of the L11059 does away with such concerns."

The L11059 USB Large Format Beam Profiling Camera works in conjunction with BeamGage Professional or BeamGage Enterprise software. BeamGage Professional features a comprehensive set of beam analysis algorithms, BeamMaker® beam simulator, partitioning of the camera output for separate analysis of multiple laser beams from sources such as fiber, a .NET interface for full remote control when integrating beam analysis into an automated application, and camera sharing. BeamGage Enterprise adds support for high-speed, networked cameras, including GigE, Gigabit Ethernet.
