Lab Measurement System inspects interior wall of bore holes.

Press Release Summary:

In addition to detecting diameters of cylindrical inside geometries, boreCONTROL LAB can be used for surface assessment and defect detection. Benchtop device provides high precision statements about quality of bore holes or cavities in diameter range of 4–16 mm. System offers non-contact measurement using small light spot, high resolution in radial and axial directions, and sampling rate up to 10 kHz. Granite table enables temperature-resistant and vibration-free measurements.

Non-contact Interior Wall Inspection in Bore Holes

The new boreCONTROL LAB measurement system detects the diameters of cylindrical inside geometries. The micrometer-precise system can also be used for surface assessment and defect detection.

boreCONTROL LAB is a benchtop device designed for laboratory use. It is easy to set up and configure, providing high precision statements about the quality of bore holes or cavities in the diameter range from 4mm up to 16mm. The measurement system offers non-contact measurement using a small light spot, high resolution in radial and axial directions and a high sampling rate of up to 10kHz. The optical measurement principle is applicable on many materials. A granite table enables temperature-resistant and vibration-free measurements.

The sensor consists of a fast exchangeable sensor lance with rotary drive and is moved via a high-precision traversing unit in the axial direction (z-direction). Delivery includes two sensor lances for diameters 4 to 10mm, as well as from 10 to 16mm. Measurement objects can be mounted using a chuck and precisely positioned with a manual x-/y- table. Handling and evaluation take place with an industrial tablet PC (delivery includes PC and software).

boreCONTROL LAB is ideally suited to applications in development and quality assurance, including for example first-off samples or production spot checks in the automotive and aircraft industries, medical technology and machine building.
