Matrox Avio KVM Extender to Drive EIZO 4K LCD Display at IBC2013

10Gbps-capable unit extends 4K video signal with zero compression, zero latency through dual-link DVI connectivity

MONTREAL — Matrox® Graphics Inc. today announced compatibility of the Matrox Avio™ F125 fiber-optic KVM extension solution with the EIZO DuraVision FDH3601 monitor, which features 8.8 megapixels (4096x2160 native resolution) across a 36.4" screen.

The DuraVision FDH3601 comes with two DVI-D and two DisplayPort™ inputs and an advanced set of specifications including 1.07 billion display colors from a palette of 278 trillion, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 700 cd/m² brightness and an 8ms response time.

Matrox Avio is designed to extend a workstation’s displays and peripheral devices while maintaining system performance with zero compression and zero latency at the remote user station. With its feature-rich connectivity options, it enables the extension of two HD videos or one 2K/4K video, plus keyboard, mouse, stereo analog audio and USB 2.0 devices over a single duplex LC-LC fiber-optic cable up to 400 m in multimode and 4 km in single mode. Extension of 4096x2160 resolution video at 30Hz is ideal for preview and playback of 4K Cinema or Ultra HD video content. For image processing applications that require a higher refresh rate, two Avio pairs can deliver an incredible visual experience on the EIZO 4K display at 60Hz by maintaining synchronization of the two dual-link video signals.

“Many of our customers are moving to high resolution displays and have the need to back rack and centralize their mission-critical computing resources,” said Kazuhide Shimura, Board Member & Managing Officer at EIZO. “Matrox Avio provides the extension performance needed for 4K image processing applications.”

“Forward-looking facilities eventually planning to transition to 4K workflows and displays can benefit from the scalability that a 10Gbps KVM extension solution provides,” said Caroline Injoyan, Business Development Manager at Matrox. “With a higher-bandwidth KVM solution, users in government, military, air traffic control, GIS and medical sectors, as well as broadcast and post production, can support different configurations by extending a single-HD, dual HD, or even a 4K video signal with the same product, effectively future-proofing their installations.”

At IBC2013, on the Matrox stand 7.B29, visitors will be treated to a stunning display of 4K footage extended over a fiber-optic cable.
