Absolute Software Unveils New Cross-Platform IT Asset Management Solution

Absolute Manage enables organizations to easily manage PC, Mac and iPhone devices from a single interface

VANCOUVER,/ -- Absolute(R) Software Corporation ("Absolute" or the "Company") (TSX: ABT), the leading provider of firmware-based, patented, computer theft recovery, data protection and secure IT asset management solutions announced today the launch of Absolute Manage, the rebranded version of the Company's recently-acquired cross-platform IT asset management solution. The new solution from Absolute complements its Computrace(R) family of data security, tracking and theft recovery solutions with full-featured computer lifecycle management capabilities.

Absolute Manage, formerly LANrev, provides organizations with an easy and automated way to manage PC and Mac(R) computers, as well as iPhone(R) devices, from a single interface. IT administrators using Absolute Manage can efficiently manage all their assets by automating time-consuming IT processes such as software distribution, patch management, asset inventory and imaging. Additionally, it helps organizations save money by allowing them to track installed applications and licenses, redeploy under-used licenses and hardware to maximize inventory, and avoid non-compliance fines.

Some of the capabilities of Absolute Manage include the following:

- Application & License Management - Deploy software and manage licenses across the network.

- Security, Change & Configuration Management - Remotely monitor and adjust configurations, and execute files.

- Automated Patch Management - Centrally manage and install patches, and report on patch status for all managed systems.

- Computer Imaging - Install a complete OS plus all standard applications onto Mac computers while in use or just out of the box.

- Power Management - Comply with green initiatives and lower total cost of ownership by remotely enforcing power saving policy profiles.

- Asset Inventory - Collect hardware and software data points from devices over the network and analyze the information for timely and fact-based asset management decisions.

According to a survey conducted by the Enterprise Desktop Alliance, 91% of the IT administrators surveyed indicated that integration and management parity between Macs and PCs were issues of major importance to their organization.* "IT administrators shouldn't have to juggle multiple tools that work on one platform but not the other," said Stephen Midgley, vice president of Global Marketing at Absolute Software. "The proven cross-platform capabilities of Absolute Manage ensure that IT administrators can effectively and efficiently manage both their Macs and PCs, and reduce associated costs."

A recent study by Info-Tech Research Group, sponsored by Absolute, found that 74% of IT asset managers said inventory data split across different IT management systems limited auditing accuracy.** "For organizations that rely on separate ITAM solutions for their Mac and PC populations, they are not getting a true picture of the state of their inventory," said Russ Conwath, senior research analyst, from Info-Tech Research Group. "Enterprises struggling with PC and Mac asset management are missing the boat if they don't use an integrated solution."

"The time it takes for an IT administrator to physically perform maintenance on a device represents resources that could be used elsewhere," added Peter Frankl, vice president of Asset Management Sales at Absolute Software. "The more you can automate computer maintenance processes, and in a platform-agnostic way, means you can free up resources for more strategic tasks and initiatives in your organization."

Recently, the central IT department for the University of Texas at Austin purchased Absolute Manage. "Absolute Manage was the ideal solution to manage our Mac systems at the University of Texas at Austin," said Cam Beasley, Chief Information Security Officer for the University of Texas at Austin. "It easily integrates with our existing tools, and we now have more control and a more complete view of our computer population."
