Revolutionary New Interior Gypsum Panels Provide Superior Protection From Moisture and Resist Growth of Mold and Mildew
ATLANTA - G-P Gypsum, a wholly owned subsidiary of Georgia-Pacific Corp. and one of the largest producers of gypsum wallboard in North America, today announced the introduction of two revolutionary interior gypsum panel products, DensArmor(TM) Interior Guard and DensArmor(TM) Plus Interior Guard.
G-P Gypsum has extended its proven Dens Technology(TM) to the interior walls and ceilings of both commercial and residential construction with the addition of DensArmor and DensArmor Plus. Highly resistant to the growth of mold and mildew (per ASTM D 3273), DensArmor panels are an integral part of an overall building strategy that not only addresses the mold issue directly, but reduces the time and expense of replacing or repairing alternative products if they become wet and at risk of growing mold or deterioration.

DensArmor uses G-P Gypsum's patented Dens Technology and is a unique interior product that consists of a noncombustible gypsum core with a coated glass mat on the back and a smooth, heavy-duty paper on the face. The glass mat provides superior protection from incidental moisture in the stud cavity and resists the growth of mold and mildew. Features include tapered edges, an enhanced core with reduced organics and durable heavy-duty face paper that provides abuse and abrasion resistance.
For ultimate protection, DensArmor Plus is an interior panel with a moisture-resistant, noncombustible gypsum core using coated glass mat facings on both the face and back of the board. The glass mats and enhanced, moisture-resistant core are highly resistant to the growth of mold and mildew, providing unparalleled protection from problems caused by moisture intrusion.
The core of DensArmor Plus is reinforced with inorganic glass fibers, increasing strength. Combined with the facings made with inorganic glass fibers, the product features greater moisture resistance and dimensional stability than regular wallboard. It resists warping, rippling and buckling. DensArmor Plus exhibits zero flame spread, providing superior surface burning characteristics (per ASTM E 84 or CAN/ULC S-102).
DensArmor(TM) Fireguard Interior Guard and DensArmor(TM) Plus Fireguard Interior Guard each have a fire rating that allows the panels to be used in any assembly where Type X wallboard is specified.
