Optimization of Automotive Ignition

Dortmund: With the IC E91.89, ELMOS presents a highly integrated IBGT ignition driver. ELMOS' application specific standard product (ASSP) is designed for automotive ignition systems. Together with the ignition coil and the ignition IGBT, it is integrated into a compact module called the pole ignition coil. The highly integrated circuit reduces the number of components and thus minimizes the installation space required for electronics. Besides operation at high ambient temperatures, a significantly better long-time stability and reliability is achieved.

Samples are available and can be requested through our website at elmos.de/englisch/products/order-samples.

Corresponding to an input control signal, the E910.89 drives an IGBT which provides the current to the ignition coil. The optional use of a differential control signal improves the interference resistance against strong interference signals produced in the engine compartment. Internal slew-rate control and programmable soft turn-on and soft switch-off functions ensure well-defined timing of the ignition event and prevent IGBT and coil from overloads.

Applications:
Ignition control for automotive applications
IGBT control

Features:
Supply voltage range 6V to 26V
Slew rate controlled gate drive voltage for IGBT
Soft turn-on function / Soft switch-off function
Safety timer for a safe turn-off in case of defect
Differential input
Operating temperature range - 40°C to + 140°C
SOIC 8N package
