Applied as continuous strip of aluminum, which is wrapped around cable and welded at seam, armor is MC-rated for crush resistance, impervious to fluid ingress, and suitable for installation in harsh and hazardous locations. Corrugation permits bending without kinking.

With the addition of continuously corrugated aluminum armor, Belden now offers three types of MC armor. Belden cables also can be protected by aluminum interlocked armor and galvanized steel interlocked armor. Belden also offers Belclad corrugated aluminum or steel tape, which is sealed to prevent fluid ingress (i.e., chemicals, water and other fluids) into the cable core.
