Original Press Release:

Emerson Introduces New Servo Drive Solution for Use with Rockwell® PLCS

Control Techniques’ Digitax ST-X Technology Saves Money By Eliminating The Need For A Separate PLC Motion Controller And Providing A Free Web-Based Drive Configuration Tool And Free Add On Instruction Block (AOI) Files Used For Seamless Integration With RSLogix®.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Control Techniques, an Emerson Industrial Automation company, announces the release of its Digitax ST-X indexing servo motor drive with EtherNet/IP™, a new variant of the company’s popular Digitax ST series of pulse duty servo drives. Digitax STX is a competitively priced, high performance servo drive designed specifically for use with Rockwell Automation® PLCs. This compact yet powerful servo drive is optimized for pulse duty, indexing servo applications requiring high peak torque (up to 300% peak), dynamic response and ease of use. Digitax ST-X features Add-On Instruction (AOI) block programming for seamless integration with the RSLogix® 5000 software environment and built-in EtherNet/IP for high-speed drive access, global connectivity and flexible integration.

The Digitax ST-X features a torque range of 6 to 382lb-in (1,147lb-in peak) with 230V 1Ø and 3Ø and 460V 3Ø line voltage capabilities. Standard features on all Digitax ST variants include 14 types of encoder feedback, Safe Torque Off, 3-6 digital inputs and 0-3 digital configurable digital outputs and integrated EMC filter. Options include snap-in SM option modules for added I/O and extended feedback capabilities. Applications include indexing tables, fast conveyor positioning, cut-to-length machines, punch press and many others.

Every Digitax ST-X drive includes “EZx Config,” Control Techniques’ free, web-based drive configuration tool that eliminates the need for a motion processor in the PLC.* Using a web browser, users can directly access the drive’s onboard software by simply entering the drive’s Emerson Control Techniques Digitax ST-X Release, default IP address. The software uses Add-On Instruction block (AOI) programming for seamless integration with RSLogix 5000 software used to program Rockwell ControlLogix® or CompactLogix® PLCs. Configuration of other Digitax ST-X features is accomplished using AOIs which can be imported into the Rockwell RSLogix 5000 programming environment. Additional savings are realized through free, pre-defined AOIs and Data User Type files available for download on the Control Techniques website (www.controltechniques.com).

Pricing for Digitax ST-X 230V configurations starts under $600USD.

*EZx Config requires Microsoft® Silverlight®, a runtime environment used to create interactive Web and mobile applications.
