Incremental Encoders provide positioning accuracy.

Press Release Summary:

Family of incremental optical encoders range in size from 30 to 48mm dia with resolutions up to 6000 lines per revolution. They have 2-channel quadrature output plus index, allowing count resolution to increase to 24,000 counts per revolution, and minimizing homing sequence. All have TTL compatible line driver output to boost signal strength and increase immunity to noise over long cable lengths. Two models have commutating ability.

New Family Of Incremental Optical Encoders Introduced By Thomson Micron

Ronkonkoma, NY - Thomson Micron -- a leader in integrated feedback solutions - announces a new line of high performance, low-cost incremental optical encoders, that satisfy moderate to high-end accuracy requirements. The family features high resolution and low inertia. When compared to competitive models, the new Thomson Micron encoders offer users low current consumption, which translates into lower operating costs.

The incremental encoders range in size from 30 to 48mm diameters, with resolutions up to 6000 lines per revolution. They come standard with a 2 channel quadrature output plus an index, allowing count resolution to increase to 24,000 counts per revolution, and minimizing the homing sequence. All of the incremental encoders have an additional standard feature of a TTL compatible line driver output, which boosts signal strength and increases immunity to noise over long cable lengths.

Two incremental encoder sizes - 35 and 45mm -- have the added ability for commutating. They are made with an integral PC board, which generates simulated Hall effect signals to initiate winding recognition for permanent magnet AC or DC servo motors.

The new Micron components enable quick installation through an assortment of optimized mounting arrangements. Solid shaft outputs offer the ability to servo mount using synchro-type clamps. Hollow hub outputs offer flexible slotted mounts and eliminate the need for a coupling. All encoders come standard with a cable and connector.

Thomson Micron optical encoders are ideal for applications such as pick-and-place robots, inspection equipment, index/positioning devices, coiling/winding operations, paper conversion equipment, and gantry or elevator axis. Pricing ranges from: $157 to $430 (1-9 pcs) and $97 to $267 (100-249 pcs)
