In-Line Particle Sizing Probe features pharmaceutical UI.

Press Release Summary:

Measuring as many as 20,000 particles/sec, Parsum IPP 70 is suited for monitoring gravity fed, pneumatically conveyed, and fluidized streams with particles ranging from 50-6,000 microns and travelling at velocities to 50 m/s. Parsum View UI simplifies system use as PAT (Process Analytical Technology) tool for continuous monitoring of granulation, spray drying, and fluidized bed operations. It provides data security and complete audit trail to meet record keeping requirements.

Original Press Release:

New Pharmaceutical Interface for Parsum In-Line Particle Sizing Probe from Malvern Instruments

Malvern, UK: The new 'Pharma option 3: Parsum View' user interface for the Parsum IPP 70 in-line particle size measurement probe, available from Malvern Instruments, simplifies the system's use as a PAT (Process Analytical Technology) tool for continuous monitoring of granulation, spray drying and fluidised bed operations, for example. Parsum View is designed specifically to fulfil GMP requirements for pharmaceutical production. It can be supplied alone or in combination with pharma option 1- verification kit for checking measurement accuracy, and 2- material traceability, a unit with highly polished contact surfaces supplied with material traceability documentation.

Together with pharma options 1 and 2, Parsum View simplifies regulatory compliance, streamlining adoption and ongoing use of the IPP 70 within the pharmaceutical sector. It works either in a network (Ethernet) or on a standalone basis to provide the data security and complete audit trail necessary to meet the industry's need for exemplary record keeping. Key features of the new release include: detailed user access control with flexible user levels; user and password management; and safe storage for measurement values and settings in an SQL-database.

Capable of measuring as many as 20,000 particles per second, the Parsum IPP70 is lightweight, compact and easy to install in either a process line or a vessel. It is suitable for monitoring gravity fed, pneumatically conveyed and fluidised streams with particles in the size range 50 - 6000 microns, travelling at velocities up to 50 m/s. Intrinsically safe and extra long versions of the instrument extend its range of applications.

About Malvern Instruments
Malvern Instruments provides a range of complementary materials characterization tools that deliver inter-related measurements reflecting the complexities of particulates and disperse systems, nanomaterials and macromolecules. Analytical instruments from Malvern are used in the characterization of a wide variety of materials, from industrial bulk powders to nanomaterials and delicate macromolecules. A broad portfolio of innovative technologies is combined with intelligent, user-friendly software. These systems deliver industrially relevant data enabling our customers to make the connection between micro (such as particle size) and macro (bulk) material properties (rheology) and chemical composition (chemical imaging).

Particle size, particle shape, zeta potential, molecular weight, chemical composition and rheological properties measurements are now joined by advanced chromatography solutions (GPC/SEC), extending Malvern's technologies for protein molecular weight, size and aggregation measurements, and synthetic polymer molecular weight and distribution. The company's laboratory, at-line, on-line and in-line solutions are proven in sectors as diverse as cement production and pharmaceutical drug discovery.

Headquartered in Malvern, UK, Malvern Instruments has subsidiary organizations in all major European markets, North America, China, Korea and Japan, a joint venture in India, a global distributor network and applications laboratories around the world. www.malvern.com
