I/O Modules offer sequential auto addressing.

Press Release Summary:

POINTBlocks integrate DeviceNet(TM) interface with array of 16-point I/O starter blocks. One- to four-channel POINT I/O(TM) modules can be snapped to base for expansion up to 264 I/O points. Modules provide protected outputs with option of latching off or pulse retry configuration, I/O messaging options, gold alloy contacts to facilitate low voltage applications, vertical and horizontal mounting, and IEC spring and screw terminal options.

Another Round of New Modules for the Rockwell Automation Allen-Bradley POINT I/O Product Family - Two New POINTBlock I/O Modules

Two new input modules add to the POINTBlock line's broad mix of I/O

MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio, Feb. 7, 2002 - Rockwell Automation has added four new input base blocks to the Allen-Bradley POINTBlock I/O line. The 120 VAC 1734D-IA16, 1734D-IA16S and the 24 VDC 1734D-IB16, 1734D-IB16S bring value to OEMs and end users who have less than 32 points in a given location and demand a broad mix of analog and digital I/O, particularly in tank farm applications.

POINTBlock integrates a powerful DeviceNet(TM) interface with an array of 16-point I/O "starter" blocks. The platform's low-cost DeviceNet access and unique expansion capabilities help set it apart from other I/O systems, while reducing time and costs
associated with designing a total automation system.

"While traditional block I/O allows limited or no expansion capabilities, one- to four-channel POINT I/O(TM) modules can be snapped to the POINTBlock base for quick and cost-efficient expansion up to 264 I/O points without any additional hardware," said Jim Iubelt, POINT I/O product manager, Rockwell Automation. "Prior to POINTBlock, many users demanding expansion flexibility had to use larger I/O systems than needed for their
stand-alone machines and distributed clusters of I/O." POINTBlock is expandable with any of the Rockwell Automation POINT I/O modules.

With a 60mm module footprint, the 16-channel POINTBlock (including the DeviceNet Interface) features one of the smallest DIN widths in its class. The POINTBlock I/O modules also provide:

* Sequential Auto Addressing for simplified commissioning of expansion modules

* Protected outputs with the option of latching off or a pulse retry configuration

* I/O messaging options for optimized I/O memory and network performance

* Gold alloy contacts, to facilitate low voltage applications and maximum reliability

* Vertical and horizontal mounting orientations without thermal deratings

* IEC spring (S) and screw terminal options
