Nordson® MiniBlue II Applicators Exceed Operating Life of Pneumatic Hot Melt Packaging Applicators by More Than 2X

DULUTH, Ga.--Nordson Corporation (Nasdaq: NDSN - News) has introduced a new series of high speed, hot melt adhesive dispensing applicators, called MiniBlue II, that provide unmatched service life, resulting in greater productivity, less maintenance and reduced downtime in packaging operations.

The new, compact MiniBlue II applicators combine unique module and solenoid technology to achieve more than twice the operating life of any pneumatic applicator in the packaging industry, while delivering fast, two-millisecond cycle times in a size that fits virtually any parent machinery and packaging application.

In the MiniBlue II, patented and patent-pending hydraulic seal technology is paired with new high-speed Saturn® Platinum (SP) solenoid technology to provide superior, consistent performance in demanding environments. Packagers achieve lower total cost of ownership from less frequent module replacement and minimal need for solenoid adjustment. Moreover, unlike competitive products, the Saturn Platinum solenoid valve does not require the additional cost and wear-and-tear of an electrical spike driver to achieve high speeds.

The improved ball-and-seat design of the MiniBlue II provides customers with a number of other advantages, including better adhesive cut off at high speeds; consistent, repeatable adhesive patterns; and shorter beads at high line speeds.

The MiniBlue II's 18-millimeter, slim body configuration fits into the most confined machine spaces, and energy-efficient, insulating jackets help maintain applicator and adhesive temperature for optimal dispensing.

MiniBlue II applicators allow packagers to use existing Nordson Saturn straight and right-angle nozzles, and are fully backward compatible with the previous generation MiniBlue products.
