High-Build Coatings suit extreme performance environments.

Press Release Summary:

Deriving its properties from polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), Xylan® 1300HB System is virtually unaffected by solvents to 400°F and resists attack from most acids and alkalies. Xylan 1391HB Primer provides optimized adhesion and corrosion-barrier performance when applied to properly prepared substrates, while Xylan 1311HB Topcoat delivers abrasion protection, nonwetting properties, low coefficient of friction, and chemical resistance.

Original Press Release:

The new Xylan® 1300HB Series

High-build coatings for high-temperature, extreme-performance environments

Xylan coatings for high-temperature performance...

...superior for corrosion and abrasion resistance...

...with virtually universal chemical resistance...

...chosen by demanding engineers since1969.

General Description

The new Xylan 1300HB system derives its properties from two of the best engineering polymers available today: polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). PPS is considered one of the best engineering polymers to provide chemical resistance at elevated temperatures. PPS also contributes bonding power and abrasion resistance. PTFE adds non-wetting/lubrication and low-friction with nearly universal chemical resistance. Together, they produce coatings which are virtually unaffected by solvents to 400°F (205°C) and resist attack from most acids and alkalies.

The Products

Whitford developed this new generation of coatings to solve the problems of life in harsh downhole environments and internal pipe applications.

Xylan 1391HB Primer: provides superior adhesion and corrosion-barrier performance when applied to properly prepared substrates.

Xylan 1311HB Topcoat: a low-friction topcoat designed to deliver abrasion protection, nonwetting properties, low coefficient of friction as well as chemical resistance.

This new Xylan 1300HB two-coat system is designed to extend the service life of oil-country tubular goods as well as other downhole components that can benefit from its exceptional performance properties. See the test data below for further clarification.
