Broadcom Launches First HD Satellite Set-Top Box SoC for China



New Chip with AVS+ Decoding Supports Market Transition to High-Definition Broadcasts



BEIJING – CCBN 2015 - Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ: BRCM), a global innovation leader in semiconductor solutions for wired and wireless communications, today announced a new high definition (HD) set-top box (STB) system-on-chip (SoC) for China's free-to-air (FTA) satellite market. As the momentum to deploy HD programming in China increases, Broadcom's BCM7228 chip enables satellite TV operators to roll out more advanced services and additional HD satellite broadcast transmissions through the integration of Audio Video Coding Standard (AVS+) decompression. Broadcom's BCM7228 SoC is compliant with the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) standards for compression. It also provides state-of-the-art Conditional Access (CA) and Digital Rights Management (DRM) security to protect the rights of content providers. Broadcom will demonstrate the BCM7228 HD STB SoC at CCBN in Beijing, March 26-28.
